Collection: Marti Bracelets

The 'Marti bracelet' or 'Martaki' is an ancient Greek custom that marks the beginning of Spring in Greece.

The Marti is believed to prevent your skin from burning in the new springtime sun. The red string represents rosy cheeks, and the white represents a fair complexion after winter.

The bracelet is worn for the entire month of March. At the end of the month take the bracelet off and tie it to a flowering tree for birds to come nest there, or wait until Greek Easter and throw your bracelet into the ashes of the souvla fire after the lamb has been roasted.

In many cultures, red string bracelets are worn to bring good fortune and protection.
